2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT
The GT is the top of the restyled-for-2010 Outlander line. It comes with a 230-horsepower MiVEC V-6 (with variable valve timing) and an all-weather, or-road-or-off-road version of the Lancer Evolution’s complex Super-All Wheel Control drive system. A computer-controlled center differential apportions torque between the front and rear wheels, and a distinctive active front differential shifts torque between the front wheels.
With torque at any wheel adjustable via computer, the Outlander GT can actively fine-tune its arc through corners, juggling power to match the vehicle’s attitude and direction to the driver’s intended line.
The Outlander crossover line is built on the same platform as the legendarily grippy Lancer Evolution pocket rocket. The GT brings the same high-tech traction and stability control systems to the Outlander, fine-tuned to work as well in snow and mud as on high-grip asphalt.
The Outlander GT went on sale this month, starting around $30,000.
