Volvo Electric C30
The C30 battery electric vehicle, or BEV, will be Volvo's first all-electric car. A handful are undergoing testing in Sweden. Volvo hopes to sell a plug-in hybrid in 2012.
The electric C30 should have a range of about 93 miles on a charge and a top speed of about 80 m.p.h. Recharging its lithium-ion batteries will take about eight hours using the standard European 230-volt power supply.
The vehicle's performance in tests will help Volvo decide whether to build all-electric cars in addition to its planned hybrids.
