Spied: 2012 Mercedes GL-Class
Mercedes is racking up the miles! The latest Merc snapped testing is a heavily-disguised GL. The supersized SUV is due to receive a cosmetic makeover that will bring it into line with Mercedes' new design language, introduced on the latest E-Class.
The chiselled face of the old model will make way for a more aerodynamic snout with a wider grille and rounded lights. These will be joined by a reprofiled bumper that's likely to feature Mercedes' new signature LED running lights.
The rear will see refreshed light clusters and a longer spoiler designed to reduce drag and improve fuel consumption figures. Mercedes is keen to improve efficiency in all its models so expect the latest GL to feature some weight savings and aerodynamic aids.
It will continue to share engines with the ML with 3.0-litre BlueEfficiency and 4.0-litre diesels joined by the 5.5-litre petrol range-topper, all putting power through Mercedes' 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The revised GL is set to go on sale in early 2011 with prices starting at around £55,000. For more details click here.
