The 911 is the most successful model in Porsche’s history. It started its long history back in 1963 and since then Porsche has offered five distinct generations: 911 classic, 964 Series, 993 Series, 996 Series, and 997 Series. Porsche Boxster Recall 2011

The Boxster Spyder, a stunning car by Porsche, has a defect which is creating a big buzz around. Porsche has notified the government of deficiency in some of the models of Boxster Spyder convertibles. Porsche confirmed all the information to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Problem is with a defective locking hook on the sun shield, which may not connected properly into the lock catch on the windscreen frame of the car. When the car will be in its top speed then there are some chances that the sun shield might get opened as it is not locked in place and create a major safety hazard.

The Porsche Boxter Spyder is a special-edition car with a separable soft-top. The limited run is likely the reason for such a small number of recalled vehicles.

Dealers will replace the locking hook and lock catch with new, redesigned components for the nine vehicles in question and will do so for free. All the owners of Boxter Spyder can contact NHTSA’s vehicle safety online and also on their contact numbers.

Details on the 2011 Porsche Cayenne models were revealed back in February, and the new Cayenne series made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Porsche wins 24 hour Daytona Race

The Daytona 24 hour race concluded with a victory for Porsche. After Brumos Racing won the event last year with a Porsche 911-powered prototype, this time victory went to a Riley fitted with an independently-developed V8 engine based on the Porsche Cayenne. Sharing the cockpit of the winning car were Joao Barbosa (Portugal), Terry Borcheller (USA), Ryan Dalziel (USA) and Mike Rockenfeller (Switzerland). For Porsche, this marked the 22nd success at the long distance classic in Florida.

Porsche Announces 2010 Prices

Price-wise, one of the biggest movers is the Cayman S, which at $146,000 costs $11,300 less than the 2009 model. The entry-level 2.9 litre Cayman falls $10,400 to $114,000.

Like its Cayman cousin, the Boxster has also undergone some drastic price drops. The base Boxster now costs $105,000 (down $9800) and the 228kW Boxster S is $10,900 cheaper at $131,000. Optioning the dual-clutch PDK auto transmission on either Boxster or Cayman now costs $5300 rather than $5500.

The savings continue with the 911 range. The hard-hitting 911 GT3 undergoes the biggest price change by dropping $7700 to $273,900, while the Carrera S coupe has had $4200 slashed from its sticker price. The Carrera 4 and Targa 4 are both $3900 cheaper, and even the 911 Turbo has undergone a $900 cut in cost.

From the start of next year, metallic paint is a no-cost option across the Porsche 911 Carrera range. All prices do not include on-road costs such as dealer delivery and statutory charges.
